🔶 Historical Origins and Construction Process

The historical roots of Alanya Castle date back to ancient times. The castle, which was first built in the Hellenistic period, was built for the defense of the Alanya settlement, known as Kandeleri at that time. However, it gained its current appearance through a reconstruction process carried out by the order of the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I in the 13th century. During this period, the castle was turned into a magnificent structure bearing the characteristics of Seljuk architecture.

🔶 Architectural Structure and Details

The architectural structure of Alanya Castle is quite impressive. Its walls, which rise approximately 250 meters above the sea, are 6.5 kilometers long in total. There are a total of 83 towers and 140 bastions in the castle. These towers and bastions give the castle both a strategic and aesthetic appearance. Additionally, there are approximately 1200 cisterns built within the walls to meet the water needs of the city. Some of these cisterns are still in use and add a special atmosphere to the castle.
